Margaret Muller retired in 2000 after twenty-seven years of teaching, the last nineteen as English Co-ordinator at Penola High School. She has been closely involved in the organisation of the Penola Festival since its inception in 1992 and is conveyor of both the Writers' Weekend and the national Max Harris Literary Awards.
Her monograph, Dreamers and Singers - Poets of the South East, which focuses on Gordon Ogilvie and Neilson, was published in 1994 by SEBP as part of its Celebration South East Series.
Margaret is a member of the Mary MacKillop Penola Centre Committee and works at the centre as one of many volunteers. She researched and wrote the text for its two permanent exhibitions, Penola - Where it all Began and Penola - Ten Years in the Bush and Beyond which tell the stories of both Mary MacKillop and Julian Tenison Woods.
